Reefmaster og LIVE-mapping

Jeg har fått mail fra Reefmaster med en betaversjon av LIVE-mapping.

LIVE-mapping, betyr at man kobler en PC/Mac med Reefmasterprogrammvare til elektronikken i båten, og så lages kartet mens man kjører, på bakgrunn av data fra elektronikken ombord. Denne funksjonen er en blåkopi av samme funksjon i Dr Depth, og er i praksis et alternativ for de med kabinbåter og mer interesse for elektronikk enn det som kanskje godt er. :)

Siden jeg faller innenfor den kategorien for tiden, de gale har det godt, er jeg i gang med å mekke et kabelsett for å koble Lowrance HDS mot PC.

Oppsettet baserer seg på NMEA0183 som er et "språk" de fleste ekkolodd/ kartplottere snakker. NMEA0183 kabelen fra en Lowrance HDS er en del av strømledningen, og henger løst fra denne. Kabelen fra HDSen må kobles til noe som passer i en PC, i dette tilfellet en DB9-kontakt. Siden min PC ikke har DB9-kontakt, må jeg ha en konvertering fra DB9 til USB for å få dataene inn i PCen min. I teorien burde det vært mulig å koble rett i en USB-kabel, men det har jeg ikke funnet noe koblingskjema på.

Hørtes dette komplisert ut? Det synes jeg også, men nå er kabler og kontakter bestilt, så får vi se om jeg får det til..... Skulle jeg kløne det til, betyr det bare at jeg er tilbake til å bruke minnekort for overføring av sonardata til PC, og det fungerer glimrende, så dette er mest en ting jeg tester for morro skyld.
