Med det tette samarbeidet mellom Raymarine og Navionics har vi lurt på når dette skulle komme. Svaret er NÅ!

Raymarine med stor nyhet

I skrivende stund slippes det softwareoppdateringer for alle Raymarines multifunksjonsdisplayer produsert etter 2011 som gir brukeren Navionics Sonarcharts Live direkte på plotteren. Dette er en del av flere nyheter som Raymarine oppsummerer som "advanced map options". Merk at dette IKKE gjelder for Dragonfly. Men Dragonfly-modeller med WIFI (PRO-modellene) kan bruke Navionics Sonarcharts Live via Navionics Boating på smarttelefon og nettbrett.

Hva er Sonarcharts Live?

Kort fortalt betyr det at dybdekartet tegnes opp på kartplotteren etterhvert som du kjører.

Sonarcharts Live bruker dybde fra ekkoloddet og posisjon fra kartplotterens GPS. Da er alt som gjenstår en dose interpolasjon gjort med plotterens prosessor og vips tegnes konturene (dybdelinjene) opp på plotteren foran deg. Jeg har brukt det samme prinsippet via Navionics fine Boating-app på min IPad i et par år og teknisk fungerer alt bra.

Det er verdt å nevne at Sonarcharts Live IKKE interpolerer med øvrige data. Kartet som tegnes opp tar med andre ord ikke hensyn til det opprinnelige sjøkartet, hverken dybder eller strandlinjen, øyer eller holmer. Det interpoleres kun mot data fra Sonarcharts Live. Det betyr i praksis at hvis du feks kjører veldig tett på strandlinjen, eller rundt en mindre holme, vil dette "viskes ut" på plotteren. Nå er forsåvidt ikke dette noe stort problem, man kan enkelt slå av og på visningen av Sonarcharts Live og dermed få frem igjen strandlinjen og andre opprinnelige data i kartet.
